DEAD AIR 412 — MATCH PREVIEW

DEAD AIR 412: NEW BLOOD GETS THE SIGNAL

There is a different feeling around Iron City right now.

Not because this is a championship match. It isn’t.

Not because there are three points on the line. There aren’t.

It’s because new players are finally getting their opportunity.

Iron City FC SC will face FC ZemZem Sunday night at Schenley Oval Sports Complex in a friendly that serves as the final stage of preparation before the APSL Great Lakes Fall Cup.

And for several of the newest additions to the club, this isn’t just another friendly.

It’s their first opportunity to wear the Iron City shirt under the lights.

New players will have a chance to earn minutes, build chemistry with returning players, understand the demands of the system and, most importantly, show what they can bring to the club.

There is no promise of starting spots.

There is no guarantee of minutes beyond what the match demands.

There is simply an opportunity.

And in Iron City, opportunities are supposed to be earned.

The coaching staff will be looking closely at how the new group responds to the speed, physicality and expectations of Iron City football.

This match is also another step toward something bigger.

The APSL Great Lakes Fall Cup is approaching, and Iron City needs to enter that competition with a squad that understands one another—not just eleven individuals wearing the same shirt.

Sunday gives the club another chance to build that connection.

New blood.

Returning players.

One badge.

One city.

One more night under the lights.
