WHEN THE BADGE ISN’T ENOUGH: IRON CITY FC MUST RESPOND

There are losses that hurt because of the scoreline.

Then there are losses that force a club to look directly in the mirror.

The first leg of the 412 Derby was the latter.

Iron City FC entered the match dealing with injuries, holiday absences, and major roster complications before kickoff. The club eventually found itself relying on players who had not expected to play and even young players who were simply at the field practicing.

That isn’t something to celebrate.

Those young players deserve enormous credit for stepping forward, but the circumstances surrounding their involvement should never have existed.

For a club trying to build something professional in Pittsburgh, this is a moment that requires honesty.

The answer isn’t blaming one person.

The answer is fixing the structure.

Iron City FC has another leg coming August 29. There is still football to play and another opportunity to show what this club is supposed to represent.

The first leg exposed weaknesses.

The second leg needs to show whether Iron City FC has learned from them.

Dead Air 412 will be watching.
